Take an Old-Fashioned Hayride!
I remember my first hayride, I was in high school, part of the FFA (Future Farmers of America), and we had a hayride on our ranch. I remember how much fun it was, and I also remember how itchy we all got, putting loose hay down our shirts! I will never forget that evening.
That's what our farm is about, making and re-living fun memories!!!!
Our hayride uses real hay (actually straw, which comes from a grain crop such as wheat, after the field is harvested to remove the wheat, the remaining wheat stalks are baled into what we call straw). Many hay rides actually consist of just a trailer with wooden benches. That just doesn't have the same meaning to us at Hawes Farms.
We have an old tractor pulling this wagon filled with straw bales..it is just plain fun.
Once leaving the main farm activity area, our trip heads along the corn maize and continues through the pumpkin patch so all can see the different pumpkin varieties. We will also drive by our flower patch and our new "pizza" farm.
Have Fun!!!
P.S. No putting that itchy straw down others shirts ... leave that for a separate group hayride!
